Cold Weather Training Tips

By Team yurbuds

As winter sets in, motivation to continue training can often be lost. Going for a run outdoors now inevitably involves putting on multiple layers and the amount of effort to maintain our work out routines and healthy lifestyle is greatly increased as the temperature decreases.

However, sometimes all it takes is a simple quote, word of encouragement, or training tip to motivate us to continue forging ahead toward accomplishing our goals. Below are some tips and encouragement from our athletes as we prepare for the winter season. Enjoy!

Angela Naeth:
The will to do , the soul to dare – Sir Walter Scott

Mirinda Carfrae:
Do what you love and love what you do.  I love this sport and really put effort to have fun in my training early in the year as I build up to a more focused regiment.   Find a new trail or enjoy some training with friends.  Reward yourself as you get back on hard training.  Try something new that helps build strength and fitness.   It’s a lifestyle sport and it takes a lot of time to compete at a high level.  Never forget why we do this.

Timothy O’Donnell:
Decide what you want to be, pay the price and be what you want to be.

LaMichael James:
Never regret the things that you do, only the things that you don’t
You can only fail if you give up

Pete Jacobs:
Do what you need to be the best you can be today – don’t lose perspective and focus solely on the end goal.

Meredith Kessler:
Never let success get to your head or failures get to your heart. Always do YOUR best. KCCO – keep calm, carry on.
Don’t be afraid in training (or racing) to get a little comfortable being uncomfortable – THIS is where the magic happens and where success is nourished and made.

Ability is what you’re capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.
